12 Wrong Methods For Finding A Life Partner

When it comes to the issue of finding a life partner with whom to spend the rest of our lives, many people go about it in different ways some of these ways are but not limited to as follows;

1. Dating

According to Wikipedia, “Dating is a stage of romantic relationships in which two individuals engage in activity together, most often with the intention of evaluating each other’s suitability as a partner in a future intimate relationship.”

Dating is when two people are in a relationship, getting to know themselves, examining, accessing, checking each other to know the sustainability of the person to be a wife or a husband.

As a man, if after examining and analyzing the lady and she seems to have good qualities, he will then propose marriage to her.

As a woman, if the guy also seems to have good qualities, she will accept the guy’s proposal and they will start preparing for marriage.

But if after dating for a while and either of them didn’t find the other person interesting and worthy to be a wife or husband, that’s how the relationship will end.

This method is base on trial and errors or luck and it’s majorly responsible for the reason why many people are heartbroken today.

If you also check the divorce statistics, this method of finding a life partner is a major contributor. Dating is never the best way to finding a life partner because it’s full of trials and errors.

Granted, some people were lucky to find good partners through this method but finding a life partner, a good one for that matter is so important to be left to the game of trial and errors or to be left to chances.

2. Recommendation

Another method of finding a life partner is recommendation.

This is when someone, say your parents, relatives, colleagues at work, friends or neighbour introduced or recommended a woman to a man that is looking for a wife.

Probably, they observed some good qualities or character from the said lady and thus assumed she will make a good wife so they recommend her to the man looking for a wife.

The man will then starts dating the woman to see if it is true and from there relationship will start and then marriage if all things being equal.

Personally, I know of someone that a woman was recommended to and he got married to her without getting to know her properly. The marriage did not last up to a year.

3. Arranged Marriage

According to an article published by Lèa Rose Emery, “An arranged marriage is a marital union planned by the families, typically parents, of the couple.”

This method is when two families, friends, business partners, politicians, kings, etc., arranged for their children to marriage each other.

More often than not, this arrangement is not in the interest of the children but in the interest of those that arranged the marriage.

It is often to strengthen their relationships, expand their businesses, empires, grow their careers, and satisfy their interests etc.

During the ancient times, this is the method that kings and monarchs used to build alliance and strengthen their kingdoms.

Little consideration is given to man and woman getting married. In most cases, they don’t have a say even if they don’t love each other.

4. Betrothal

This is when someone is betrothed to another person. For an example, when a girl is pledged to be married to a boy or a man when they mature.

This is more like the last point, the only difference is that this is done when the children or either the two people are still little.

5. Name Picking

Name picking is another method people employ in finding a life partner. That is, the write names of their probables on a sheet papers and fold them and then shake or roll on the floor and then pick one paper and any name they pick they believe the person is the one for them.

This is a game of probabilities and you will definitely make a mistake this way because nothing is certain.

6. Contracting A Prophet

Some people also go to length of contracting a prophet to tell them who their partners are. They will present names to the prophet to choose one for them supernaturally.

If you cannot hear God for yourself, I don’t think any prophet will be able to do that for you as most prophets also end up in bad marriages.

7. Diabolical Ways

Some people also contract witches, wizards, palm readers, soothsayers, necromancers, herbalists etc, to tell them who their life partner is. This is totally wrong. Nothing good comes out of the devil.

8. Matchmaking

Matchmaking is another wrong method of finding a life partner. For example, a guy goes to matchmaking website and write, “I am looking for a young lady of 24 years, 5ft tall, fair complexion, a graduate, can cook, career-oriented, dual citizenship etc.”

The problem with this is that many women will fit into this description and out of these many women none of them will be the right person for the woman.

Because you were attracted when you met with someone is not a licence for marriage. A lot of things can be responsible for the attraction. The beauty, shape, height, complexion of the lady can be the cause of the attraction. Also, the handsomeness of the man, body built, money etc, can be the cause of the attraction.

So attraction is a wrong basis for marriage. The attraction itself may not be true love, it may be an infatuation, lust etc. This is a wrong method for finding a life partner.

11. Common Interests

For the mere fact that you and someone see eye to eye on some issues or enjoys the same hobbies or interests is not a licence for marriage. There’s a place of common interests in marriage but enough basis for marriage. This is just one piece of the puzzle.

12. Association

Because you grow up with someone or you’re friends with someone is not enough basis for marriage. Someone people are just good as friends and associates but not good as a husband or wife.
